Daniel Negreanu wins the first tournament of 2024

For Negreanu, as mentioned, the year just ended was the worst of his entire career. The Canadian recorded a deficit of $2,228,174. In the last ten years it had closed only one other year in deficit, 2016, for 1.25M, while in 2017 it had essentially made even.

Negreanu captures third WSOP Player of the Year

Daniel Negreanu, quite possibly the most famous name in the poker world today, dominated headlines during the 2019 World Series of Poker Europe at King's Casino. Negreanu made history by becoming the first person to win WSOP Player-of-the-Year honors for the third time. Since the award’s inception in 2004, no other player has even won it twice.

At the conclusion of WSOP in Las Vegas in July, Negreanu was in third place, behind Robert Campbell and defending Player of the Year Shaun Deeb. But after an additional seven in-the-money finishes at WSOP, Negreanu took the lead and finalized his historic accomplishment. Campbell would finish runner-up, and Deeb finished in third place.

Greece was the only other country with two winners, including Alexandros Kolonias’s victory in the Main Event. In all, 13 different countries were represented among the 15 winners at the 2019 WSOP Europe.

There three previous bracelet winners who added more hardware to their trophy cases: Dash Dudley (Event #2), Asi Moshe (Event #9) and Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, who won the Colossus event on the final day of the series.

The schedule for next year’s WSOP Europe will be released sometime in the spring.

Poker pro Daniel Negreanu goes viral with #GameOn challenge

The latest PokerStars.com #GameOn video shared by Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu has really captured hearts and minds racking up 14 million views on Daniel's Facebook page as of 1 December. The latest instalment, which follows on from the hilarious ice bath challenge, sees Kevin Hart and Usain Bolt come face to face again to call each other's bluff, with Negreanu acting as referee once more.

How has this captured the imagination? The video focuses on their ability to read each other. Hart wins outright, with his ability at reading Bolt, but Bolt fails on each occasion.

"One of the key tenants of playing a great game of poker, who is the better bluffer, has really caught people's interest," said Negreanu. "We all love to think we can call each other's bluff. Well, Kevin can. Perhaps I will challenge him myself in the Bahamas and see how good he really is."

Daniel Negreanu nominated MSOP ambassador

Major Series of Putting (MSOP) today announced that world-renowned poker player Daniel Negreanu will act as an ambassador for MSOP. Negreanu will also be playing in championship events during the MSOP finals taking place 27 October to 5 November in Las Vegas.

"I'm thrilled to collaborate with MSOP while also joining the competition as a player in Championship events," said Negreanu. "I happen to be one of the top five putters in the world, according to me, and as someone who enjoys a leisurely game of golf, this is a great opportunity to school other competitors."

Negreanu became interested in gambling and poker at just 16 years old and has worked his way up in the poker world since. At the age of 23, Negreanu became the youngest player to date to win a World Series of Poker bracelet. He was named World Series of Poker Player of the Year in 2004 and 2013 and is recognized as poker's all-time money leader, with over $32 million in winnings. Negreanu continues to be one of the top poker players in the world, as well as an avid golf fan.

Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu reviews All Star hands

PokerStars.com's All Star cash game series is well under way, with 19,627 hands already played over two weeks and with two weeks to go.

There have so far been 30 players competing to prove that they are each the best cash player in the game, including names such as "OtB_RedBaron," "Iimitless," "0Human0" and "LLinusLLove."

At the top of the All Stars leader board sits "Hatrick19911," who has so far won $16,542 over 4,238 hands, followed by "OtB_RedBaron" with $13,732 across 2,765 hands. In the Masters leader board, "zas91" is leading with $4,084 won from 8,358 hands, followed by "ValentjNN" with $3,421 and 6,026 hands played.

Daniel Negreanu is No. 1 tournament knockout target, according to PokerStars poll

Daniel Negreanu has topped a worldwide poll of poker players as the person most people would like to knock out of a poker tournament, in a survey conducted by PokerStars.com, an Amaya Inc. brand.

The "Poker Brat," Phil Hellmuth, was the second most popular choice, with 10-time World Series of Poker champion Phil Ivey in third.

The survey coincides with the release of PokerStars Knockout Poker – a tournament format exclusively available online at PokerStars. Every time a player knocks out another player, they win a share of the tournament prize money. This gives more players more chances to win, more often.

Football superstar Neymar Jr will be the face of PokerStars Knockout Poker as it launches with a comprehensive marketing campaign globally. "I love winning on the football pitch, and I love the opportunity to win instantly in Knockout Poker," said Neymar Jr. "It takes an ordinary game of poker and makes it more fun, with more winning moments!"

Daniel Negreanu joins Poker Central

LAS VEGAS -- Poker Central, the world's only 24/7 Poker network, today announced that Daniel Negreanu, one of the superstars of poker, would become a new Poker Central partner.

Negreanu, McClelland inducted into Poker Hall of Fame

The world’s all-time highest-earning live tournament poker player, Daniel Negreanu, became the 47th – and youngest – member of the Poker Hall of Fame on Sunday, November 9.

An induction ceremony took place at 7.30pm local time in Binion’s Gambling Hall, Las Vegas, on the eve of the WSOP Main Event November Nine final table, with 40-year-old Team PokerStars Pro, Negreanu, voted in by a 20-member media panel and the 21 living Hall of Fame members. Industry veteran Jack McClelland was also inducted as the 48th member.

Shortly after the ceremony, Negreanu, who is Canadian but resides in Las Vegas, said: “There’s something about winning tournaments and player of the year awards that’s fabulous, but when you’re voted for by your peers and recognised by the media and those that are already living members of the Hall of Fame, that’s irreplaceable.”

He added: “I’m in the 40th year of my life, I’m physically and mentally in the best place I’ve ever been, so to top it off with this is extra special. Once you’re in the Hall of Fame they can’t kick you out! It’s the epitome of acknowledgement for what we do.”

Negreanu, McClellan to be inducted into Poker Hall of Fame

LAS VEGAS -- The 2014 Poker Hall of Fame Class will feature a first ballot inductee – Daniel Negreanu – and one who has spent four decades contributing to the game – Jack McClelland. The two become the 47th and 48th individuals to be inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. The two were nominated by the public and voted in by a 41-person panel made up of existing Poker Hall of Famers, and a Blue Ribbon Media Panel, it was announced today by the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council.

McClelland and Negreanu will be inducted officially on Sunday, November 9 at 7:30 pm at Binion’s Gambling Hall & Hotel – the birthplace of poker in Las Vegas – and the original home of the World Series of Poker (from 1970-2004). The Poker Hall of Fame induction ceremony and dinner will occur inside the Longhorn Room, which was originally called Benny’s Bullpen. Benny’s Bullpen hosted the very first final table of the World Series of Poker in 1970.

The Poker Hall of Fame Gala kicks off the November Nine festivities, taking place a day before the 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event final table gets underway at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino (Nov. 10-11). The venue is a sentimental choice given it is where McClelland served as tournament director and Negreanu won his first World Series of Poker bracelet.

“Congratulations to the newest members of the Poker Hall of Fame,” said Poker Hall of Fame governing council member Ty Stewart. “While a contrast in styles, there is a common thread between these two deserving nominees. Both liveall-in on poker and have devoted their full hearts to the game.”

McClelland, 63, has spent four decades in the game of poker on the operator side of the business holding virtually every position in a poker room, while Negreanu, 40, burst onto the scene as a player, with three victories in 1997 and has done nothing but win since, becoming poker’s No. 1 ranked live player, with nearly $30 million in live tournament winnings.
