Sixth annual Global Poker Awards nominees announced


The final round of voting for the 6th annual Global Poker Awards has been completed. We at GPITHM are pleased to announce the nominees from around the poker world throughout 2024.

Two-time Global Poker Award winner Caitlin Comeskey leads the way with four nominations: Best X Personality, Best Short-Form Content Creator, Best Media Content: Short-Form Video, and Peoples’ Choice for Most Entertaining Player. Caitlin is defending her 2023 award for Best Short-Form Content Creator and won Rising Star in Content Creation in 2022.

Fellow GPA winners Marle Spragg and Joseph Stapleton have been nominated for three awards. Marle Spragg joins Comeskey in line for Best X Personality, Short-Form Creator, and Short-Form Video. Marle will defend her Best X Personality award from last year’s GPAs.

Joseph Stapleton is a two-time award winner, previously winning the GPA for Best Podcast in 2021 and Media Person of the Year at the American Poker Awards in 2016. Joe is nominated for On-Air Talent, Podcast, and Best Book this year.

Barry Carter, Barny Boatman, Daniel Negreanu, Nikki Limo, Abby Merk, David Lappin, Dara O’Kearney, and the Irish Poker Open have all been nominated in two categories.

Poker fans worldwide once again had their voices heard, making selections for Fans Choice in four categories: Best Hand, Best Trophy, Best Live Stream, and Most Entertaining Player.

Nominations announced for the 5th Global Poker Awards


Voting panel members in 16 categories have completed the voting process and nominees are now known for the 5th Global Poker Awards:

Caitlin Comeskey, who won a Global Poker Award for Rising Star in Content Creation at last year’s ceremony, has been nominated in three categories –Short-Form Content Creator, Best Video Content, and Best X/Twitter Personality. Comeskey will go head-to-head in all three categories with Marle Spragg, who also earned three total nominations.

Content-creating phenom Alexander Seibt “Wolfgang Poker”, a newcomer to the Global Poker Awards, also received three nominations – joining Comeskey and Spragg in the Short-Form Content Creator Category, a new category for the 5th Awards, Best Vlogger and Fans Choice for Poker Personality.

Gregory Liow, aka “Greg Goes All In”, completes the Short-Form Creator category and joins Wolfgang in the Poker Personality category, along with Seth Moeller “SethyPoker” and Jonathan Rand “Slow Poker”.

Bin Weng will be presented with the GPI Poker Player of Year trophy on Awards night, Kristen Foxen will collect her mind-boggling FOURTH GPI Female Player of the Year award while Nick Pupillo will pick up the Mid-Major PoY title.

Game of Gold has been announced as the first award winner (other than the PoYs) – GGPoker will be presented with the GPI Award of Merit. Several other trophies are expected to be presented on Awards night, including The Hendon Mob Award and the Charitable/Community Initiative.

Previous GPI Award winners who are nominated this year include Stephen Chidwick, Alex Foxen, Will Jaffe, Jamie Kerstetter, Kevin Martin, Benjamin Spragg, Lex Veldhuis, and Brad Owen.

Final Four voting for the GPA Fans Choice Awards kickoff tomorrow (Wed 24 January) and conclude the following Wednesday. Fans will make their selections in four categories: Best Hand, Best Trophy, Best Live Stream, and Poker Personality. Anyone can vote in this final round, including fans who voted in the first round – only 1 vote per person/IP address.

Global Poker Awards releases its Final Four nominees


GPA Fans Choice Awards have reached the final four in the last remaining categories as poker fanatics placed their first-round votes for the past week.

Ethan “Rampage” Yau, already up for two Global Poker Awards for Breakout Player and Best Vlogger, could add a third trophy on the night of the Awards as fans have made him a nominee in the Peoples’ Choice for Best Poker Personality category.

Rampage will battle Ryan DePaulo, Felipe Ramos and Lex Veldhuis in the final four voting round – Veldhuis is also up for Best Streamer, an Award he’s won twice.

There will be a new winner in the Best Trophy category as the EPT Main Event Trophy takes on the PGT Stairway Trophy, the WPA – Women’s Poker Association Trophy and the WSOP Main Event Bracelet.

The infamous Robbie Jade Lew J4 hand is nominated in the Best Hand category, facing Daniel Negreanu’s runner-runner Quads, David Diaz’s crucial Main Event fold and Papo MC’s big bluff.

Finally, EPT Live, Hustler Casino Live, King’s Casino Live Streams and Poker at the Lodge are all four nominees in the inaugural Best Live Stream category.

One vote per person/IP/email in the Final Four Round, all votes from the first-round carry-over to the Final Four Round – anyone who voted in the first-round can once again vote in the Final Four Round.

Categories for Global Poker Awards unveiled


The Global Poker Index and The Hendon Mob have announced the categories for the upcoming Global Poker Awards, live from the PokerGO Studio at Aria Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on Friday, 18 February 2022, exclusively on PokerGO.A total of 26 awards are expected to be presented at the ceremony. Awards recipients will include winners in various GPI Player of the Year races, including the 2021 GPI Poker Player of the Year, the Female Player of the Year and the addition of the GPI Mid-Major Player of the Year, recognizing players scoring points in events with a buy-in of $2,500 USD and below.

Returning awards determined by various voting panels include GPI Breakout Player of the Year, Final Table Performance, Best Vlogger, Best Streamer and Best Broadcaster. Best Live Tournament Reporter is a new votable category for the Awards.

The fans will once again have their say. The Fan Choice Awards will include three categories: Best Hand, People’s Choice for Poker Personality and the introduction of a new category, Best Trophy.

Poker ICON, Players Choice for Toughest Opponent, Best Event, Best Podcast and Best Industry Person are a few of the other categories that will be part of the upcoming ceremony. Voting panel members will receive their preliminary round ballots next week.

Nominees for Global Poker Awards revealed

Representatives from 10 different Nations will battle it out as 20 trophies are expected to be handed out at the inaugural Global Poker Awards next month in Las Vegas.

Over 130 Nomination Panel members from around the globe voted to determine this year’s official nominees in 13 categories.

While this is the very first edition of the Global Poker Awards, there are several former American and European Poker Award winners up for trophies this year including: Lance Bradley, Mori Eskandani, Joe Ingram, Cary Katz, Lon McEachern, Andrew Neeme, Daniel Negreanu, Matt Savage, Nick Schulman, Jason Somerville, Jaime Staples, Remko Rinkema and several events and organizations.

Bradley and Rinkema join Justin Bonomo and Lex Veldhuis as the only people to be nominated in two categories at this year’s Awards.

Two Award winners are already known as poker power couple Alex Foxen and Kristen Bicknell will receive the GPI Player of the Year and GPI Female Player of the Year trophies on Awards night. For Bicknell, this will be her second consecutive year picking up the PoY trophy.
