Dutch Gaming Authority cracks down on two illegal providers of online games

The Dutch Gaming Authority Kansspelautoriteit (Ksa) imposed an order subject to periodic penalty payments on two illegal providers of online games of chance for admitting Dutch players. Winning Poker Network did not stop the offer after that and must therefore pay the penalty imposed. Goldwin Ltd. did cease operations after the burden was imposed.

With an order subject to periodic penalty payments, providers of illegal online games of chance are ordered to stop and keep stopped all activities for which they do not have a license in the Netherlands. If they do not comply, they must pay a penalty.

Offering online games of chance to players in the Netherlands is only allowed with a license from the Ksa. Strict rules and regulations apply to ensure that there is a safe legal offer, whereby players are assured of a fair game and are protected against gambling addiction.

“It must pay off for providers of games of chance to offer their games legally,” said René Jansen, chairman of the Ksa. “That is only possible if we take the wind out of illegal supply. We are fully committed to stopping these practices.”

Winning Poker Network previously received a warning that enforcement would follow and promised to stop offering online gambling for the Netherlands. A follow-up investigation by the Ksa revealed that this was not entirely the case. The original website americascardroom.eu was no longer accessible from the Netherlands, but a new account could easily be created on another website of the same provider, www.truepoker.eu. This made it possible to play on that website from the Netherlands. As a result of this violation, the Ksa has imposed an order subject to periodic penalty payments of 25,000 euros per week, with a maximum of 75,000 euros. The amount of the penalty is determined, among other things, by the size of the supply of the illegal provider.

Winning Poker's illegal offerings have not ceased at the time of this news release, with which the penalty is actually collected from Winning Poker Network. The investigation by the Ksa will also be continued after this penalty payment, with the aim of stopping this illegal offer completely. Enforcement action can then be taken again.

GoldWin Ltd. offered players in the Netherlands the opportunity to gamble online on the website westcasino.com, without having the correct license. They received a penalty of 239,000 euros, with a maximum of 717,000 euros. A re-investigation revealed that the violation has now ceased. However, the order subject to periodic penalty payments remains in full force. When Goldwin Ltd. again offers online games of chance to Dutch players, the periodic penalty payment will still be imposed.

Come scegliere i migliori casinò online sul web

(Pixabay)

Come scegliere i casinò online

Satellite winners from Intertops head to Austria

Online satellite tournament winners from Intertops Poker and Juicy Stakes Poker are on their way to Austria next week where they'll compete in the prestigious Main Event of the European Poker Championship in Velden. Video reports from the tournament, featuring interviews with the players, will be online beginning 27 July.

The online poker players each won a $4,000 prize package that includes €2,700 buy-in to the EPC main event (27-30 July), accommodation at a premium hotel close to the casino and cash for travel expenses.

This year the EPC Velden prize pool is estimated to be over €700,000 (over $770,000). Players from all over Europe (especially Germany and Italy) will play tournaments and cash games on more than 40 tables at the exclusive lakeside resort.

Sven, one of the online poker champions on the Intertops team, is a German tennis coach. He plays mostly online but has played a few live tournaments — smaller tourneys, not big buy-ins. This is his second European Poker Championship, and he looks forward to returning to the Austrian spa resort for another poker holiday.

Bit8 secures Romanian B2B license

Gaming platform software provider Bit8 has secured a class two B2B licence in Romania, strengthening its already sizable presence in the country.

The license comes after the re-regulation of the rapidly expanding Romania market back in September, and allows Bit8 to offer its multi-channel platform to both land-based and online operators.

Bit8 established itself as the casino platform provider of choice in Romania after striking a deal with the country's largest retail and online bookmaker, SuperBet, to power its online casino site.

Angelo Dalli, Bit8 CEO, said: "Romania is an exciting market, and we are thrilled to have received our licence from the regulator. It's testament to the quality of our platform that it passed so quickly; it has always been scalable and designed to be multi-jurisdictional."

"We are particularly proud of its multi-channel functionality, helping cross-sell retail players into online as shown through our partnership with Super Bet. This, combined with our license, gives us a springboard to work with other operators in the country."

Ny online poker bill passes Senate

Despite fear from a chief opponent who said it would create the "next generation of zombies," a bill to regulate and legalize online poker in New York scored a huge victory on Tuesday, passing a Senate vote by a convincing 53-5 margin.

The bill, sponsored by Sen. John Bonacic (R-Mount Hope), would allow the state's 11 racetrack casinos to apply for 11 online poker licenses, good for 10 years and costing $10 million each.

But online poker players in the Empire State must be patient. The bill still has to pass the Assembly and receive a signature from Gov. Andrew Cuomo. And since the legislative session ends in two days, it is unlikely to see further advancement anytime soon.

Online poker, Michigan moves forward with bill to regulate

A bill to regulate and legalize online poker in Michigan was overwhelmingly approved by a Senate committee on Wednesday. But, according to the office of State Senator Mike Kowall, the primary sponsor of the bill and the Senate Majority Floor Leader, it will not go any further during the current legislative session, meaning it won't be voted on by the Senate until after Labor Day, at the earliest.

"There's not enough time (for the Senate to vote on it before June 16), but yesterday was obviously a huge step forward," Dave Biswas, chief of staff and legislative director to Senator Kowall, told Casino City on Thursday morning. "Our goal was to get the bill out of committee and onto the Senate floor, and that's what we did."
