Atlantic City casinos ready for a strong summer season

The Atlantic City casino industry is prepared to welcome visitors to the East Coast’s top destination resort this Memorial Day Weekend, marking the unofficial start to summer. This year is poised to be even better than last summer thanks to the significant capital investments made at casino properties across the city, the completion of the beach restoration project and the return of the airshow and beach concerts.

“Atlantic City casinos are ready to welcome new and returning visitors this summer with the best dining, entertainment and gaming amenities on the East Coast,” said Mark Giannantonio, president, Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ). “Exciting entertainment attractions and unique offerings are essential to continue to attract visitors to our great city. That is why the casino industry continues to reinvest in our properties to create world-class experiences for our customers.”

According to the LIGHT 2024 Impact: Atlantic City Casino Industry report, Atlantic City operators spent more than $200 million in capital expenditures in 2024 on new and revitalized dining, retail and gaming spaces. In the past five years, the industry invested more than $1 billion dollars on projects to enhance and differentiate their properties. The LIGHT report also details how the casino industry has had a profound impact on the state and region providing jobs and generating tax revenue that benefits New Jersey’s most vulnerable residents. The industry is one of the largest employers in southern New Jersey with 23,000 employees, and more than 80% are Atlantic County residents.

In addition, the casino industry continues to be a driving force in New Jersey’s tourism industry, according to the New Jersey Division of Travel and Tourism 2024 Economic Impact of Visitors to New Jersey study. Atlantic County was responsible for more than 20% of New Jersey’s overnight visitors, with approximately 10.91 million guests renting lodging in Atlantic County last year. Atlantic County was also responsible for the most same-day visitors at 13.1 million in-and-out guests. That represented nearly 19% of the state’s same-day visitor traffic.

With the recent completion of the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers’ $40 million project to replenish the sand on the beaches of Atlantic City, visitors will now have access to additional beachfront fun just outside the doors of the North Beach casino properties.

Atlantic City is the place to be for meetings and conventions: Conventions and meetings had a strong start in first quarter of 2025 under the leadership of Visit Atlantic City, hosting over 12 successful events, conventions and conferences generating 39,843 room nights booked and more than 104,000 attendees, resulting in a total economic impact of nearly $80 million.

The Air Show is back: Visit Atlantic City is hosting the Visit Atlantic City Soar & Shore Festival on July 15 to 16 over the beaches of Atlantic City. The Soar & Shore Festival is a free, family-friendly event filled with nonstop entertainment, including aerial performances and a weeklong lineup of exciting festivities across Atlantic City.

WSOP Circuit returns to Harrah's in Atlantic City

Harrah's Atlantic City today announced it will host another World Series of Poker® Circuit stop for avid poker fans who are ready to bring their poker skills to the felt. The return of the WSOP Circuit (WSOP-C) to Atlantic City will happen from Thursday, 14 Aug. 14, through Monday, 25 Aug.

The return of the WSOP-C to Harrah’s is notable, as the casino resort hosted the initial stop on the inaugural WSOP-C tour in 2005. The 2025-26 WSOP Circuit stop marks the first time Harrah’s Resort has hosted a stop since 2020. Before then, Harrah’s was a regular stop on the series schedule from 2005-2020.

Atlantic City casinos ready for the return of March Madness

ATLANTIC CITY -- One year after the COVID-19 pandemic dramatically changed our lives, the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ) announced that Atlantic City’s casinos are ready to celebrate the National College Basketball Championship throughout the month of March and safely welcome back more guests to the seaside resort destination. Atlantic City casinos have exciting offerings to enhance fans’ experience watching the unpredictable college basketball tournament.

“Atlantic City casinos are excited to safely welcome back fans to enjoy one of the biggest sporting events of the year,” said Steve Callender, President of the Casino Association of New Jersey (CANJ). “Leading up to the basketball tournament last year, Atlantic City seemed to be unstoppable. We were on a 21-month winning streak of revenue growth, our sportsbooks topped Nevada’s, and our diverse offerings were attracting new visitors. Then the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the National College Basketball Championship was cancelled, stay at home orders were issued, and our casinos were closed for almost four months.”

“What a difference a year makes,” continued Callender. “We implemented wide-ranging safety protocols to safely welcome back guests and employees, our indoor dining capacity has increased, and curfew restrictions were lifted. We look forward to providing a sense of normalcy for our guests during this difficult time, while continuing to prioritize their health and safety through continued enforcement of mask and social distancing requirements. As the spring and summer seasons approach and the vaccine is distributed, we are optimistic about the future as we work to bring more people back to work and continue revitalizing Atlantic City’s economy.”

Governor Murphy recently announced that starting March 19, indoor dining will increase from 35 percent to 50 percent capacity, and Executive Order 230 will permit 50 percent capacity on the casino floor as well. He also signed Executive Order 219, lifting the 10:00 p.m. closing restriction. The casino floor remains open 24-hours a day, and food and beverages services can be available throughout the evening and overnight hours. Atlantic City casinos continue to implement comprehensive protocols developed in consultation with AtlantiCare to keep employees and guests safe.

Harrah's Resort Atlantic City reopening World Series of Poker Room

Harrah's Resort Atlantic City will reopen its World Series of Poker Room this month as the official destination for poker at Caesars Entertainment's Atlantic City casinos. The iconic brand of poker will resume operations for the first time since March on Saturday, 26 December at noon, with enhanced health and safety protocols at the forefront of the experience to ensure the well-being of players and team members.

Harrah's Resort will be the first casino in the market to offer an eight player game, with individual safety shields made of plexiglass for each guest to ensure social distance between players. Additional plexiglass will be installed on each game for the safety of dealers, as well as players.

Caesars Entertainment Atlantic City welcomed guests back to their world-famous resorts today at Harrah's Resort Atlantic City, Bally's - Atlantic City and Caesars Atlantic City, in accordance with the New Jersey Governor's Executive Orders and all state directives, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony outside of Caesars' Boardwalk entrance on Friday, July 3.

Caesars Entertainment's Regional President, Ron Baumann, joined by Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small, Sr., celebrated the milestone with a brief ceremony on the Atlantic City Boardwalk – opening the doors to Bally's, Caesars, and Harrah's Resort after over 100 days - welcoming back employees and customers.
