Jimmy Vaccaro, bookmaker and sports marketing director at South Point Hotel Casino and Spa, has claimed his place in the Sports Betting Hall of Fame. He was inducted on Wednesday, 1 December during a special ceremony at the MetLife Stadium during the SBC Summit North America conference and trade show.
Vaccaro has been one of Las Vegas’ most prominent bookmakers for more than 40 years and had a personal hand in building the Las Vegas sports betting industry to what it is today. Vaccaro and Michael Gaughan have been partners at a variety of Mr. Gaughan’s Las Vegas properties over the years, including the Royal Inn, Barbary Coast and South Point. In the 1980s, he ran the Golden Nugget and MGM sportsbooks before opening The Mirage’s sportsbook in 1989. Currently, Vaccaro serves as the senior linemaker for VSiN and can be seen on national TV and radio programs.
This honor recognizes individuals who have contributed an immense amount to the sports betting industry over the course of their careers with a remarkable legacy. Consideration for the Sports Betting Hall of Fame shall be limited to individuals (living or deceased) who have made outstanding contributions and/or provided outstanding service to the sports betting industry.
