Phil Hellmuth aiming to 'change humanity'

LAS VEGAS -- Whether it's sitting at the ESPN featured table under the hot lights, or bumping into a reporter in the hallways of the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino and taking part in an impromptu interview, Hellmuth's bravado gauge is always on full.

You want salacious statements and audacious assertions? President Trump has got nothing on the Poker Brat.

Hellmuth busted in the World Series of Poker Main Event on Day 2C, but was back at the Rio on Thursday for a book signing. He says he is being told by friends that his new autobiography — titled, simply, Poker Brat, The Story of the World's Greatest Poker Player, — is "way too personal" and that people "can't put it down."

The Phil Hellmuth cold shower for ALS

It all started on the web and, as is increasingly the case, the initiative has become a worldwide scale. They keep the cold showers on social networks, where ordinary characters and Vip keep alive the chain of Ice Bucket Challenge video where users pour a bucket of water on him, giving and inviting them to donate funds for research on ALS.

A reminder that the poker world has not remained unaffected. Among the first to accept the invitation there was Phil Hellmuth, record-won tournaments at the World Series and one of the most popular players in the world, which has so many urged his colleagues to do likewise.

He followed Ty Stewart, director of the WSOP, which has "appointed" i "november nine", the nine players who will play in two months the world title in Las Vegas.

Antonio Esfandiari also responded to the call, one of the most successful players on the planet (it has grossed about 26 million dollars playing poker) and also follow many other professional players. We do not know yet the extent of their donations, but given their bank accounts will hopefully have been up to the task.
