G2E Asia in Macao postponed again

G2E Asia, Asia's largest gaming entertainment industry exchange platform and leading exhibition, will be postponed until 1-3 December 2020, at the original venue, The Venetian Macao Resort-Hotel Cotai Convention and Exhibition Center.

"We have always put the health and safety of our customers, visitors, partners and colleagues in the first place. Unfortunately, the current global health situation has prevented the exhibition from being held in July. Based on our close attention to the global health crisis and our close communication between customers and the Macau government, we will postpone the holding of the Asia International Entertainment Expo until December. We will continue to support the rapid recovery of the Macau entertainment industry and look forward to bringing you a fruitful industry event in Macau in December," Li Yayi, chief operating officer of the China Expo Group said.

Macao Gaming Show to unveil $30 million original artwork

The Asian gaming industry’s premier exhibition, the Macao Gaming Show (MGS), will be displaying a US$30 million-plus work of precious calligraphy art as its centerpiece at the exhibition in a bold step for a casino and entertainment industry show.

The Tung Nga Gallery, the gallery of art in Macau, will be exhibiting the works of a number of artists to its international audience at The Venetian Macao Resort-Hotel (17-19 Nov.).

The main attraction at this creative booth will be the “10,000-meter Scroll Symbolizing Long Life,” a masterpiece of Chinese calligraphy that its creator, Shen Hongyu, spent 15 years completing. Shen Hongyu, Board member of the Global Federation of Innovative Chinese Calligraphy and an expert in the visual arts, will be showcasing his recently completed masterpiece in what is set to be the most diverse and creative exhibition floor MGS has ever seen.

“10,000-meter Scroll Symbolizing Long Life” consists of 100 volumes, each with the Chinese character ‘shou’ (meaning longevity) in 100 different styles. The scroll has a total of 10,000 examples of the character ‘shou’ written in different calligraphy styles, all of them executed by Shen, and embodying the spirit of Chinese traditional culture and a profound philosophical significance.

The transcendent work of art will be on display at The Tung Nga Gallery in booth #V28 at this year’s Macao Gaming Show, which is an enthusiastic host to the piece of art. Fatima Nunes, Secretary General of the influential trade association MGEMA, said: "This is an exciting departure for the show. The Tung Nga Gallery's work has international appeal and is a perfect fit with the cultural development that the industry will be taking over the coming years. The Scroll is a major piece of art, but also an example that our industry is so much more than machines and games - the success of our business is based on its diversity and range of offerings to the visitor."

Macau casino revenues decline 33% in September

MACAU - Macau casino industry suffered through its 16th straight monthly revenue decline during September and the market's eighth straight month of drops of more than 30%.

Macau's Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said Thursday the region's 36 large and small casinos collected $2.1 billion in gaming revenue in September, a decline of 33%.

The market has been in a free fall for nearly a year-and-a-half over a sinking Chinese economy and a mainland China government crackdown on corruption that has ensnared several of the high-end junket operators tasked with bring big spending gamblers to Macau's casinos.

"September results were broadly in line with expectations as a better start to the month was quickly erased by the seasonal, and softer this year, pre-Golden Week malaise at month end," Deutsche Bank gaming analyst Carlo Santarelli told investors. "While the September result is the smallest level of decline since January, one would be hard pressed to call it encouraging."

Through September, Macau gaming revenue is down 36% over the same nine months of 2014. Macau, the world's largest gaming market by revenue, produced a record $45.2 billion in gaming totals in 2013. The figure fell 2.6% in 2014.

Macao government confirms support for Macao Gaming Show 2015

The Macao Gaming Show 2015 and its pioneering tourism and culture summit have received the backing of three of the key departments of the Macau SAR Government. Recognising the achievements of the world’s fastest-growing exhibition on the gaming and entertainment stage, the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and sponsor, the Macao Foundation, have all confirmed their support for the expanding international event. Two of the government departments (DICJ and IPIM) have agreed to become supporting organisations, whilst the third, the Macao Foundation, will be Sponsor of the exhibition and summit at this year’s 2015 edition at The Venetian Macao Resort-Hotel, 17-19 November 2015.

The highly prized government endorsement is regarded as a crucial marker of the show and summit’s credentials. Research and Markets releases 'Casino Gaming Market in Macau 2015-2019'

Research and Markets has announced the addition of the "Casino Gaming Market in Macau 2015-2019" report to their offering.

According to the report, the revenue of the casino gaming market in Macau is expected to decline at a CAGR of (3.47)% over the period 2014-2019.

Currently, Macau has 33 casinos, with the Venetian Macau being the largest. In the coming years, more casinos will be added to this, increasing not only the number of tables, slot machines and other gambling paraphernalia, but also the number of accommodation facilities for tourists coming into the region. This will also cater to the middle class population that comprises a major portion of the gambling population in Macau.

Macao Gaming Show fills three quarters of exhibition space with three months to go

MACAO -- The Macao Gaming Show (MGS) has confirmed that 75% of its exhibitor booth and stand space for the 2015 edition has been sold. With three months still to go before the doors open to the Asian gaming industry’s primary exhibition, the three-quarters full mark was passed weeks earlier than the corresponding landmark last year.

MGS is now in its third edition and the latest additions to the exhibition list reinforce the expo’s hard-earned reputation as the fastest growing expo on the international gaming calendar. Show organisers, the influential trade body MGEMA, will convene this week to discuss an extension to the exhibition floorspace.

Event Director and Show Organizer Marina Wong said, “The signs are encouraging. This year our objective was to consolidate our position following such incredible levels of growth in the first two shows. So the increasing interest is a real boost to the credentials of the show.”

She added, “We also recognise that Macau remains the most significant market in the world and MGS has shown that it offers a forum where business can be done, and more importantly, where even more business can be done especially in other territories. We serve as a ‘Gateway to Asia’ and this message is gaining traction.”

In addition to a large international contingent of exhibitors, the Asian industry’s most influential gaming firms, who organise the show through the trade body MGEMA, will all be represented on the showfloor. Report alleges China believed Macau Sands infiltrated by CIA

MACAO -- A private investigator's report has revealed China's fears that Macau Sands were in league with the CIA, the Guardian reported.

Chinese officials believed US casinos based in Macau had allowed CIA officers to infiltrate and spy on officials with a view to blackmailing them, the report said.

The Sands has dismissed the report as meaningless speculation, according to the Guardian.

Increase in self-exclusion in Macau

MACAO -- Macau has seen an increase in the number of people applying for self-exclusion at casinos in first half of 2015, GGR Asia reported. In 2014 a total of 280 were registered, whereas to date in 2015, 183 people have made requests, the report said. Both gambling spend and activity has decreased since 2003 for Macau residents, GGR Asia said.
