Rishva Iyer wins first PokerStars Road to PSPC Women's Event

This weekend at PokerStars first ever Road to PSPC Women’s Event at Live! Casino & Hotel Philadelphia, 24-year-old Rishva Iyer from Kensington, Philadelphia earned $5,840 and a coveted Platinum Pass, worth $30,000, for topping a field of 120 in the women’s event. The Pass will take her all the way to the Bahamas to play in the PokerStars Players No Limit Hold’em Championship in January where millions of dollars will be on the line.

Rishva, who usually plays cash games, started her journey in poker by playing home games in college but really got into the game after being taught by her boyfriend.

Rishva said: “I’m a regular here at Live! so I’m always checking for events and I saw there was a Ladies Event and I thought I can’t miss this; I have to play it. I try to play the big tournaments now and then, but I don’t study them as much and I don’t have that much experience at all, so it was kind of tough, but it’s always fun.

“I think doing more events like these and just supporting women when you see them play and giving more recognition for women in poker, is always great. I’m excited to play a $25,000 tournament, to play that big of a tournament is what I’m most excited for.”

The $200 buy-in event awarded a prizepool of $19,800, and this weekend Live! Casino in Philadelphia will play host to the next PokerStars Road to PSPC event from October 13-16, where another Platinum Pass will be awarded.
