PokerStars VR rebrands to Vegas Infinite

Flutter is excited to announce that PokerStars VR, an innovative virtual reality (VR) product created by its PokerStars brand, has rebranded to Vegas Infinite as part of a full-scale overhaul of the free-to-play social casino videogame.

After almost five years at the frontier of the category as PokerStars VR, Vegas Infinite represents the next generation in the game’s evolution as a virtual entertainment destination.

The launch includes a brand-new and bespoke 3D virtual cityscape for players to enjoy as they explore Vegas Infinite’s personal player suites, luxury casinos and exclusive rooftops escapes. Vegas Infinite will also soon be available on a new platform, with PC players able to join others on Steam VR and Meta Quest VR, with no headset required.

Flutter prides itself on driving product innovation across its global portfolio of brands. Through its distinctive Flutter Edge, where product and technology capabilities are shared across the Group, brands like PokerStars can consistently develop their offering by incorporating expertise and insight from other parts of Flutter.

Since PokerStars VR first launched in 2018, giving players the ability to sit down with friends at a virtual poker table, chat in real time, and interact with their surroundings in a selection of environments, the product has experienced continual development, only accelerated since Flutter’s acquisition of the brand in 2021.

As part of this, the team has added blackjack, roulette, slots, craps, and the proprietary Rocket Rush to an extensive in-game portfolio, while bringing poker fans Spin & Go poker, MTTs and the flagship poker tournament series, the Metaverse Poker Tour. The virtual destination has also grown to include personal suites and dressing rooms, a luxury casino floor in Casino One, The Gallery casino exclusive to high-rollers, and The Rooftop, a subscriber-only rooftop escape overlooking the soaring Vegas Infinite cityscape.

Player safety has also been a focal point during development, with Vegas Infinite using ToxMod, an AI live chat monitoring tool, to assist its dedicated moderation team. Players also have access to a range of in-game safety tools including the option to take time out from games, set spending limits, issue player reports, and customize the extent of their interaction with others in-game.

James O’Reilly, PokerStars Director of VR & Innovation, said: “As we approach our fifth anniversary, it’s incredible to think how far our game has come. From a cutting-edge experiment in applying virtual reality to the poker table, we’ve grown to become a living entertainment destination with a full suite of games and experiences played in otherworldly environments that are home to an avid community of players. Today, we’re much more than poker and much more than VR. Vegas Infinite is where we’re taking our players next and there’s lots more in store.

PokerStars VR launches on PlayStation VR2

PokerStars VR is now live on Sony's next generation virtual reality hardware, PlayStation VR2. The launch marks PokerStars VR's debut on Sony's celebrated virtual reality platforms and will see the VR social casino videogame join a host of blockbuster AAA titles already live and in development.

A brand-new audience of VR players can now hang out with friends in their private luxury suite and win free virtual chips daily, before heading out to the casino floor and a choice of stunning environments.

Here they can meet players from around the world in action-packed games of blackjack and roulette, roll the dice with buddies at the craps table, choose from a dazzling selection of slots, or take on real opponents at cash, Spin & Go, and Sit & Go poker.

PokerStars VR and development partner Lucky VR have taken full advantage of the breath-taking capabilities of the PlayStation VR2 hardware, which is powered by PlayStation 5. Advanced haptic feedback through PlayStation VR2 Sense controllers brings gameplay to new heights by giving players the sensation of interacting with a huge in-game catalogue of props and accessories, while handling chips, dice and cards just like in live games. Real-time face and eye tracking will allow players to study opponents' tells and adds to the community experience as players chat live at the tables. Players will also feel the thrill of going all-in at the poker table with live headset haptic feedback that brings a new dimension to the virtual reality experience.

"Our Sony debut introduces PokerStars VR to a brand-new audience and we've spent months in development making sure it's rewarding social experience,” said James O'Reilly, PokerStars Director of VR & Innovation. “The PlayStation VR2 hardware is astonishing, and Sony have been a great partner in helping us realize its potential. I'm looking forward to welcoming PlayStation VR2 fans to our community over a few hands of poker, and to unveiling more to come from our game."

PokerStars VR is free to download now from the PlayStation Store and free to play, with players awarded free chips every eight hours and free creds used to purchase interactive accessories and apparel in-game. Additional chips and items are available to purchase via the PlayStation Store.

PokerStars VR uses Tox Mod, an AI live chat monitoring tool, to assist its dedicated moderation team. Players also have access to a range of in-game safety tools including the option to take time out from games, set spending limits, issue player reports, and customize the extent of their interaction with others in-game.

PokerStars VR is a free-to-play social casino that does not present an opportunity to win real money. Players must be aged 18 or over to play.

PokerStars previews virtual reality poker

PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker site, is previewing a virtual reality version of its online poker software in expectation of a commercial release in the future.

An exciting and innovative experience for new and existing players, PokerStars VR is a free-to-play, authentic and immersive social poker game that will give players the chance to play poker in visually stunning game environments, handle chips and cards just as in the real world, study opponents and pick up tells, chat in real time, and keep the tables fun with a host of interactive props.

Initially offering the No-Limit Hold’em version of poker, the multiplayer game is currently in a closed beta with around one hundred invitees playing and testing the game using Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Steam.

The product was previewed this week in Birmingham at EuroGamer, the U.K.’s biggest games event. PokerStars VR, developed with Lucky VR, features intuitive controls for easy gameplay, voice command controls, integrated Twitch broadcasting, video streaming and social media integration on Oculus Rift for those who wish to play and stream.

PokerStars VR allows players to come together from all over the world in a virtual card room where avatars not only interact around the game, but can dress to impress, socialize, entertain and chat as if in the same room. They can do this while streaming shows or sport and enjoying a variety of virtual items and activities such as ordering food and drinks, sharing sushi, throwing items at each other, or even owning a pet donkey and smoking a cigar (or a cigar-smoking pet donkey if that’s on the wish list).

From novel fun and social interaction to serious poker action, players can also study stats and observe their opponent’s reactions as if physically in the same room, bringing every virtual interaction and action to life. With leaderboards and private tables, there is something for everyone, and players can earn free chips to use at the tables by spinning a virtual wheel every day. In addition, there are five exotic virtual reality settings for players to experience: Macau 2050, The Macau Suite, The Showdown Saloon, Monte-Carlo Yacht, and The Void.
