Resorts World Las Vegas reaches sustainability achievement

Resorts World Las Vegas, the first integrated resort built on the Las Vegas Strip in more than a decade, announced an incredible milestone in its sustainability efforts as the property is now being powered by 100 percent renewable energy sources. In partnership with NV Energy, the famed resort is now one of the few Las Vegas Strip resorts to achieve this incredible feat.

The conversion to utilizing renewable energy resources demonstrates Resorts World Las Vegas’s continued commitment to creating positive environmental impacts across all operations. To date, the property has implemented sustainable efforts that have resulted in numerous certifications including a LEED Gold Certification and a GBAC Certification, have created innovative partnerships to produce state-of-the-art solutions to improve the air quality, upgraded building management systems, implemented the largest amount of electric vehicle chargers on the Strip, and more.

“We are thrilled to have reached such an incredible milestone in our sustainability efforts after only two years of operation,” said Peter LaVoie, President of Resorts World Las Vegas. “The partnership with NV Energy has been integral in our efforts thus far and we look forward to continuing our commitment to our community and environment as we work to further implement impactful changes across the resort.”

This collaborative process also helps NV Energy reach its Renewable Portfolio Standard goal of 50% by 2030. NV Energy exceeded the renewable energy requirement in 2022 by nearly eight percent. This is the 13th consecutive year that NV Energy has exceeded the state’s renewable energy requirement, currently at 29%.

“NV Energy is honored to be the energy supplier for Resorts World Las Vegas,” said Doug Cannon, NV Energy President and CEO. “This project is emblematic of our commitment to meeting our customers’ unique energy needs and identifying an innovative path forward to meet those needs. NV Energy’s ongoing commitment to powering Nevada with more renewable energy is a win for the State and the environment.”
