WSOP 'Value Menu' event schedule solidified

The WSOP “Value Menu” has been finalized for the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP), set to run from 26 May to 15 July 2020 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, with the opening event – a $1,000 buy-in Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em scheduled to christen the WSOP at 11am on Wednesday, 27 May.

The freezeout format -- allowing only one entry -- is part of a concerted effort by the WSOP in 2020. The opening event, plus at least one No-Limit Hold’em event a week in this format is planned for the rest of the series. The WSOP is committed to keeping a significant portion of the schedule utilizing the freezeout format.

As the modern day “something for everyone” poker festival continues to evolve, the latest track of events to gain popularity is the $1,000 and under buy-in events, driving new players to the WSOP while offering large prize pools.

“Everyone loves good value and the WSOP has continued to enhance its offering to meet the demand at these meaningful price points,” said WSOP Vice President Jack Effel. “Delivering large prize pools, new players and exciting formats are core objectives of the WSOP and these 25 events are key to meeting this mandate.”

The above list of events features 15 events that had not previously been announced. 24 of these 25 events will either utilize the freezeout format, or a single re-entry or single re-entry per flight format. The Little One for ONE DROP – due to its charitable component – will be the only live event offered that offers more than single re-entry.

In addition to these 25 events priced $1,000 and under, WSOP.com - Nevada will release its online gold bracelet event schedule in the coming months, which is expected to include several more tournaments in this price range.

New events to the WSOP this year include the opening Freezeout event, the Forty Stack No-Limit Hold’em, featuring a robust 40,000 starting chip stack and a $500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em event with a 25,000-starting stack. The remainder of events announced today have been offered previously, including the Deepstack series of $600 and $800 price points and the lowest priced offering, the $400 Colossus No-Limit Hold’em. Some events have been tweaked this year to ensure single re-entry or freezeout as the format events are played as.

A record 187,298 entries participated in the 2019 WSOP, creating a 50-year high of $293,183,345 in prize money. The average WSOP gold bracelet event in 2019 had a $3,257,592 prize pool.

Buy-ins for tournaments at the Rio in 2020 will start as low as $75. Single table satellites and all your favorite live poker games: low, medium and high limit will begin on May 26 and run 24 hours a day throughout the seven-week series taking place in the spacious Rio Convention Center for the 16th consecutive year.

Room reservations are being accepted across Caesars’ Las Vegas properties with rates as low as $33 for existing Caesars Rewards members by using the booking code WSOP20. Visit Las Vegas - WSOP to make your room reservations for the 2020 WSOP.

Individual event online pre-registration won’t open until March/April, after all events have been determined and approved by regulators. More than 500 poker tables will be set up across nearly 200,000 square-feet of ballroom space to accommodate the thousands of players from around the world who attend poker’s annual Woodstock.

WSOP.com’s real-money online poker offerings in New Jersey and Nevada will be the exclusive online home for players in these states to win seats into WSOP events, including the Main Event, as well as to participate in the exclusive online WSOP official gold bracelet events. While in New Jersey or Nevada, eligible players can play on WSOP.com, whether a resident or not. Satellites have begun and are expected to run regularly throughout the WSOP. 888 Poker remains WSOP.com’s international online poker partner in most jurisdictions, with plenty of satellite qualifications planned to award seats to the WSOP in Las Vegas.

The full event-by-event schedule is expected to be released in the coming months. All above announced dates, times and events are subject to change.
