Gambling ads criticised on first day of Australian Open

AUSTRALIA -- Following the allegations of match-fixing in the tennis world this week, criticism has been aimed at the sponsorship of the Australian Open and Bookmakers, according to the BBC.

William Hill are sponsoring the Grand Slam and adverts for their services are prominently displayed, the report explained.

Australian politicians have called for the "severing of ties" between tennis and gambling sponsorship, despite the fact William Hill are in no way implicated in the recent match fixing allegations and have integrity measures in place, the BBC reported.
