Irish Poker Open will run for a full week in 2016

Ireland’s biggest and Europe’s longest-running poker festival, The Irish Open, returns at Easter next year with an added treat for poker fans – it expands to one week rather than the traditional four-day Easter weekend.

Launching on Monday 21 March and running to Monday 28 March, the festival is being jointly run by Paul O’Reilly and JP McCann, two of Ireland’s most respected tournament organizers, at the four-star City West Hotel and Golf Resort, Dublin.

The centrepiece Irish Open Main Event, running from Thursday 24 March to Monday 28 March, will feature a €500,000 guarantee and two day 1s with a reduced buy in of €1,150 to attract players of all levels.

In addition to the Main Event, there are a number of Championship Events scheduled including a €350 PLO Triple Chance 6 Max, a €350 NLH 6 Max, a €350 NLH Heads-Up, a €250 NLH Seniors and a €250 NLH Mini Irish Open.

There are also two highlighted events, the €2,000 NLH High Roller 8 Max and the €350 “Liam Flood Memorial” NLH 6 Max Turbo.

A comprehensive online and club satellite schedule will be announced shortly and will include ticket only and ticket, accommodation and spending money packages. Players can keep up-to-date with upcoming news on the event at the Irish Poker Open website.

Paul O’Reilly, spokesman for The Irish Open, said, “We’re thrilled to be bringing the Irish Open back to the masses with a reduced buy in and guaranteeing a bumper prize pool of half a million euro.

There will be a huge week of poker partying in Dublin and anyone who’s ever been here knows Dublin can party!

We can’t wait to welcome people from all over Ireland and the World to City West for what will prove to be an amazing week-long poker event.”
